WELCOME!
We’re glad you’re interested in the possibility of holding an event at 2223 FISH!
Please read this page for more information.
OUR MISSION
We are a church-owned gathering space, and our mission is to serve our community by supporting arts, education, meetings, family gatherings, and other events to benefit the community. To do this, we partner together with nonprofits and with hobbyists, fans, & other community members who do not make a financial profit from their events (see “MONEY” below). We are not a commercial event space with the goal of booking shows or renting space primarily for profit.
CHOOSING A SPACE
Look at the choices under “Spaces” in the menu to decide which space at 2223 FISH is best for what you are planning. Please note the Coffee Shop has air conditioning, but the other spaces at 2223 FISH do not.
Unfortunately, the Theater and The UnderG levels are not wheelchair accessible. The Entrance Level (Coffee Shop and Sanctuary) is accessible by ramp. The Entrance Level also has an individual bathroom, but that bathroom has not yet been made fully accessible.
Room sizes (approximate):
Coffee Shop – 32′ x 24′
The UnderG – 40′ x 40′ (can be expanded to 40′ x 60′ with a lot of work)
Theater – see picture below. The main floor can seat 100+ in padded chairs. An additional 200 can be seated in the balcony on wood and plastic chairs, some of which are children’s chairs.

the upper stage is not currently available due to mechanical problems
main floor extends under-balcony for approx. 60% of balcony length
The Theater is equipped with simple color LED lights in overhead fixtures for mood lighting.
A sound system is provided. (see “Sound Equipment” below)
SOUND EQUIPMENT
The Theater is equipped with a Mackie ProFX12v3 mixer, a 12-channel send / 4-channel return audio snake (all XLR, 2 returns are used by the speakers), and a pair of Mackie SR1530 active speakers. You are responsible for microphones, stands, cables, converters, DI boxes, monitors, and everything else.
DO NOT DISTURB
We are located in a primarily residential area, so it is important that event-related activity be confined to inside the building. There should be no lines of people waiting outside to enter, and no large groups hanging outside to socialize or smoke during event breaks. (And smoking needs to be limited to tobacco!)
Those leaving events should be asked to do so quietly. The event itself should not be so loud as to disturb our neighbors. This cannot be emphasized too strongly – events, including concerts, must be kept to a moderate volume level. In the Theater this currently means a general volume limit of 90 dba with occasional peaks of no more than 95 dba. We have a large LED decibel meter to help you remain within this limit.
DIY
We operate mostly as a do-it-yourself facility. You will be shown how to turn the lights on/off, unlock and lock the doors, adjust the thermostat, and read the decibel meter. Almost everything else is up to you.
AVAILABILITY
Check the Home Page / Happenings Page to see which dates are already taken.
Generally, all spaces are not available on Sunday before 1 pm. The Coffee Shop is not available Tuesday evenings from 6 pm – 7:45 pm. The Theater is also not available during that time period, although a quiet setup is possible for opening doors at 7:45 pm or later. Exceptions can also be made for some multi-day events. (e.g. a full-week theater run)
MONEY
In general, if you are coordinating an event and are not a nonprofit organization, you should not make any money from the event. On rare occasions, we may make our space available for a for-profit project, but it must be closely tied to our purposes. You may, and are encouraged to, compensate performing artists.
We do not have set fees. We have suggested contribution amounts that are negotiable. We have to pay for heating, lighting, and building maintenance just like everyone else!
Suggested contributions for 3 hours (including set-up and teardown):
Theater – $350 (additional hours @ $100/hr)
The UnderG – $150 (additional hours @ $50/hr )
Coffee Shop – $75 (additional hours @ $25/hr)
For information on how you can make your contribution, please see:

NO CAN DO
2223 FISH is smoke-free. We are also a sober space. We do not require you to police individuals for moderate alcohol consumption as long as their behavior is otherwise acceptable, but you may not provide alcohol nor advertise your event as BYOB.
THE CHURCH THING
2223 FISH is owned by the Summerfield/Siloam United Methodist Church. We do not require community members using our spaces to share our faith or viewpoints. However, we do not allow meetings or performances which would generally be considered blasphemous, derogatory towards the faith, or derogatory towards people of faith. This is explicitly not meant to exclude people from discussing their experiences either positive or negative with God, faith, church, or religion. Of course, we also do not allow meetings or performances that promote other forms of bigotry and/or intolerance. Likewise, graphically violent and sexually explicit performances are not permitted. Finally, we only allow group worship, religious activities, and religious education by Christian groups.
